Korea Railroad Corporation is a public enterprise under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport that is responsible for the sales and related affairs of the national railway in Korea. The Korea Railroad Corporation Daejeon Chungnam Headquarters introduced the iX and PowerTunnel Plus programs for reinforcement work on railway tunnels and safety management of facilities across all railway sections in Chungcheongnam-do.

"The new measurement system allows us to quickly measure the tunnel site without any reference points and simply output the measured data into a report, reducing working time by 2.5 times compared to the previous measurement method (laser distance measurement or manual total station)," he said. "In the past, when the minimum safe working time was more than an hour, the measurement was carried out only at night.

However, with the introduction of the PowerTunnel Plus measurement system using the SOKKIA IX series, we could measure it during the day without waiting until night." And he said the faster measurement not only ensures safety but also reduces time for post-processing.

"When working with existing equipment, we had to convert data into CAD data after measurement and print it as a report for a long time, but now we use it very conveniently as it is printed in CAD files and reports easily." In addition to shortening time and improving safety, it was also said to have been reduced in labor costs.

“Using the on-board software for the motor drive total station reduces the measurement time by 2.5 times compared to measuring using a conventional distance meter or manual total station, so considering the improvement in time and safety, there are significant cost savings, including labor costs.”
