Korea Railroad Corporation is a public enterprise under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport that is responsible for the sales and related affairs of the national railway in Korea. He said the benefits of the iX series. "When measuring the tunnel interior and structure using a conventional laser range finder or a manual total station, it took a lot of people to mount and measure the measuring equipment itself.

It took a long time to measure, which was cumbersome to measure, and it took a lot of time to output the measured data," he said, talking about the previous measurement method, adding that the PowerTunnel Plus measurement system using the newly introduced IX series is very easy to use.

"The new measurement system allows us to quickly measure the tunnel site without any reference points and simply output the measured data into a report, reducing working time by 2.5 times compared to the previous measurement method (laser distance measurement or manual total station)," he said. "In the past, when the minimum safe working time was more than an hour, the measurement was carried out only at night.

However, with the introduction of the PowerTunnel Plus measurement system using the SOKKIA IX series, we could measure it during the day without waiting until night." And he said the faster measurement not only ensures safety but also reduces time for post-processing.

"When working with existing equipment, we had to convert data into CAD data after measurement and print it as a report for a long time, but now we use it very conveniently as it is printed in CAD files and reports easily." In addition to shortening time and improving safety, it was also said to have been reduced in labor costs.

“Using the on-board software for the motor drive total station reduces the measurement time by 2.5 times compared to measuring using a conventional distance meter or manual total station, so considering the improvement in time and safety, there are significant cost savings, including labor costs.”

"I am satisfied that the speed and accuracy of the work have been increased by using the motor drive total station from the manual total station," he said. "We plan to use it not only for tunnels but also for measuring tracks and structures."

When he first heard about the development of the railway tunnel's internal measurement system, he told the developer, "It is possible to measure with increased accuracy in a short period of time for safety as it is possible to measure it in a short period of time, considering that the person in charge is frequently replaced due to the conditions of the measurement worker, and I wanted to develop a system that can easily measure and check the actual measurement data in real time without the expertise of the measurement worker.
